Starting at the tip top, off it comes, piece by piece.  We are celebrating.  We feel like we are really moving forward now.

It snowed.  Spring time in the rockies!  Misery.  Shoveling off the roof.  Water dripping down through the house once again.

This was a good day.  EXCEL showed up and connected our temporary construction power.  No more generator.  Yeah!

The work continues, replacing joists, more and more are in poor shape, up higher in the building.  Our goal is to create a safe work place for the masons and carpenters who will be building the new roof.

Moving forward on many fronts

Big news!  We received the Building Permit for the removal and rebuilding of the roof from the City of Denver Friday, April 15.  It was a time of great celebration for the team working behind the scenes to make it all a reality.IMG_0977

Work continues inside the house; replacing floor joists as needed, shoring for safety, new subfloors go in.

Jan spent some time poking around and found evidence of many colors of paint that we had no photos of, on the house.  Happy to see something other than white!

Roofing material is approved by the City.

From the ground it looked like the designs on the corbels were routed out.  Actually they are cut with a jigsaw, or bandsaw, then pieces are layered.  Much deeper definition to the designs, which of course is brilliant considering you are looking at them from way down on the ground!
